Gold Leaf Bronze Hulu Figure Sculpture

The figure of an adult carrying a child on his shoulders, with his hands gently touching, as if in thought. The overall sculpture is made of bronze with a gold leaf finish that shimmers and glitters.

This work is from the artist Huang Yulong and is named Hulu, which is the Chinese pronunciation for gourd. It is a plant that can be eaten as a vegetable before it matures. The shell of the gourd can also be used as a container when dried. In Chinese culture, Hulu is pronounced similarly to Fu Lu, so people often use it as a good wish for good luck and success.
