Fiberglass is one of the main and popular materials used in outdoor sculpture production. This artistic installation, consisting of a large hand, a figure and the shadow of the hand. The humanoid figure and the hand are both made from fiberglass, while the shadow of the hand is made from 304 stainless steel. It’s height is 3 meters. This combination ensures a consistent appearance and provides stability and safety for the overall sculpture.

During the production process, based on the 3D model design, a 1:1 foam model is first created. Then, the fiberglass is molded in sections according to the model. Due to the special nature of fiberglass, the molding process requires multiple repetitions to ensure that the fiberglass completely fills the mold and forms the desired shape, followed by cooling and demolding. To further strengthen the sculpture, a stainless steel structure is installed inside as support, ensuring its strength and increasing its lifespan.

This is a new work by Mr. Andy Lau and artist Wong Yulong, exhibited at the Hong Kong Cultural District’s Freespace. It has attracted the attention of many art enthusiasts.
